Sarah & Andrew - Botley Hill Barn, June Summer
Captured by MajaTsolo
The Day
This intimate midsummer wedding was to become the first of many weddings at Botley Hill Barn, nestled amongst the Surrey Hills. It was during the pandemic with a maximum capacity of 30, and was also the first time Laura and I worked on a wedding together, the first time we created organic flower meadows for the ends of the pews (chairs), as well as our first set of floral posts (broken arch).
The Brief
This beautiful barn wedding was all about using garden & meadow gathered style stems, the kind you see in a quintessentially British stone built rural cottage garden. Our couple wanted soft blush florals with complimenting white, cream and green stems that oozed elegance and soft texture.
The Flowers
We used a selection of meadow gathered style grasses, Sarah Bernardt Peonies which are a soft & delicate pink tone, alongside a mix of Garden Roses, bouncy two tone Alliums, elegant lisianthus with leaves removed to display their elegant long stems as well as fluffy Astrantia & Astilbe and magical linear Snapdragons.
The Ceremony & Wedding Breakfast
An Intimate ceremony for 30 guests took place in the beautiful Baby Barn, with views of rolling hills framed by our soft & ethereal floral posts. The outline enhanced by the light spilling in through the vast Botley Hill barn windows - and in our opinion the perfect backdrop.
We also created organic and natural style flower meadows for the end of each alternate row of the aisle. Creating these in a style that looked like they were growing out of the floor. Tall fluffy, linear grasses at centre stage with colour pulled in from the selection of flowers dotted throughout.
The natural chunky wooden tables that provide a perfect spot for guests to enjoy the wedding breakfast were lined with scented mixed foliage garlands filled with different varieties of Eucalyptus and robust textured foliages & herbs. The flower meadows from the ceremony were moved to the front of the top table to create a larger impacting meadow.
Finishing touches included garden roses woven into the fresh foliage garland on the top table, as well as white, blush pink and pale green candles placed in crisp glass candlestick holders.
