Jean & Gwan - Botley Hill Barn, August, Summer
Captured by Ochi Weddings
The Day
A mid-week early August outdoor wedding ceremony - the beautiful surroundings of the Surrey Hills as the focal of our couples ceremony. The wind was blowing, the rain made an appearance and there was a dash for the indoors as the ceremony came to an end. Our couple wanted an installation that enchanted the towering Oak tree and played into and complimented the magnificent surroundings. The Bride & Groom both wore Alexander McQueen which played into the sophisticated aesthetic we created for them.
The Brief
It was important for the flowers to support & compliment the surroundings rather than jar against them. We knew we could provide this synchronicity by using flowers and foliages grown a matter of 20 miles away from the Barn. The colour pallete was to be soft & understated, leading us to opt for primarily white and green stems with a subtle pop of pale blue. This guided us to create elegant, textured and organic style arrangements that felt natural in their environment
The Flowers
We used a selection of British grown garden gathered florals. In order to give the designs a soft look we selected flowers that had a soft floaty form which consisted of White Cosmos, Panicum grasses, blue Borage, Queen Anne’s Lace, Clematis seed heads and delicate star shaped white Nigella.
The Ceremony & Wedding Breakfast
A large outdoor ceremony on the picturesque lawns of Botley Hill Barn, with unparalleled views of the Surrey countryside. Foliage heavy & ethereal style floral posts were created in front of the vast oak tree, creating the outline of the florals with the curve of the trees trunk in mind. This attention to the shape of the tree, allowed us to visually fuse our design and the tree together.
Organic and natural style flower meadows lined the aisle. Creating these in a soft, fluffy style in tones of white and green. The florals moving in tandem with the breeze.
The flower meadows from the ceremony were moved to the guest tables and the floral posts to behind the top table to create a magical backdrop to our couple.
Finishing touches included white and pale blue taper candles placed in crisp glass candlestick holders to create a warm ambient vibe and complete the look.
