Henry & Lou Lou - Botley Hill Barn, May Summer

The Day

This divine early summer, May wedding was another absolute explosion of colour, bursting with all the soft floaty flowers, amongst vibrant and adventurous wild flowers. It showcased locally grown goodies in both vibrant and pastel shades with fluffy whites and greens weaved throughout.

The Brief

Henry & Lou Lou contacted us just 6 months (Nov 2023) before their wedding in May 2024. Lou Lou had a clear vision of the way she wanted her designs to look - It was important that where possible the flowers were locally sourced, which obviously meant that SEASONALITY was really important.

The Flowers

The ceremony was the most important part for our couple and they were keen for this to be vibrant upon the stonework of the church building. We wanted to create designs that honoured the season as well as looking impactful. We decided we could create this by using vibrant pops amongst an elegant sea of whites and greens that still felt quite bridal.

We contacted our local growers, who provided us with Sweet Rocket, Lupins, Snowberry foliage, White beam, Geum, Daisies, & Foxgloves.

We did also source flowers and foliage from Holland, because unfortunately its not always possible to get hold of the quantities we need for larger installations, this included mind blowing coral & Sarah Bernhard Peonies, Orange Snapdragons, Ranunculus, Roses & Anemones.

The Ceremony & Wedding Breakfast

In true Holly & the Dragonfly style, we moved the posts from the church and re-sited them to the wedding breakfast to be enjoyed whilst guests ate their dinner and listened to speeches.
