Botley Hill Barn Wedding Flowers: Five Weddings That Prove No Two Celebrations Should Ever Look the Same

One of the reasons we love designing weddings at Botley Hill Barn is that no two celebrations have ever looked remotely alike.

The venue provides the perfect canvas, but it's always the couple who shape the atmosphere. From joyful spring celebrations to candlelit autumn ceremonies, here's a glimpse into five weddings that couldn't have been more different.

Gemma & Robert | Soft, Joyful, Feminine

Gemma and Robert's spring wedding felt as though it had simply grown from the Surrey countryside surrounding the barn.

The palette was a delicate blend of lilac and white, with flowers that looked as though they'd burst naturally from the ground rather than been carefully arranged. It was elegant without ever feeling overly polished—a celebration full of warmth, laughter and an incredible group of women surrounding the bride.

One of our favourite design decisions was placing an abundant floral installation at the centre of the top table, allowing guests to sit either side. Rather than stretching flowers across the full length, we created a single, generous focal point that anchored the room beautifully while still encouraging conversation.

The guest tables were framed by large floral urns that echoed the movement and softness of the spring flowers, creating moments of impact throughout the reception without overwhelming the space.

Ebru & Matt | Artistic, Cultural, Grounded

Some weddings stay with you because of the atmosphere, and Ebru and Matt's was one of them.

Their celebration blended Greek, Turkish and English traditions into a day that felt deeply personal. There was an effortless calm between them; the kind of connection you could feel long before they spoke their vows.

The floral design reflected that same balance. Soft pastel blues, lilacs, buttery yellows, blush pinks and crisp whites were lifted with unexpected pops of vibrant blue, creating movement and depth without losing their sense of elegance.

The ceremony mantelpiece became one of the defining floral moments of the day, while the cake deserved a stage of its own. As a talented cake maker herself, Ebru's cake wasn't simply dessert—it was part of the storytelling. We designed the flowers around it so it became a true centrepiece.

One of our favourite images from the day captures Ebru standing quietly with her bouquet before the ceremony. Sometimes the simplest photographs become the most unforgettable.

Live musicians filled the barn throughout the day, adding another layer of emotion and weaving together the different traditions that made the celebration so uniquely theirs.

Freya & Jordon | Bold, Vibrant, Playful

Freya and Jordon proved that colourful weddings can still feel incredibly refined.

From the moment guests arrived, there was a sense of energy running through the entire day. Freya's bridesmaids each wore different colours, she walked down the aisle to a string quartet playing I'm Still Into You by Paramore, and every decision felt like an extension of the couple's personalities rather than a wedding trend.

The flowers followed suit.

Towering eremurus, peonies and sculptural seasonal blooms created arrangements full of movement in vivid shades of hot pink, orange and coral. Every installation felt joyful, confident and completely unapologetic.

One of our favourite memories wasn't a photograph at all—it was the room reveal. Seeing Freya and Jordon's reaction, followed by a huge hug, is exactly why we do what we do.

Even with all the colour and personality, nothing felt chaotic. The day struck that rare balance between playful and beautifully considered.

Sar & Jack | Atmospheric, Storybook, Unapologetic

If ever there was a wedding that celebrated individuality, it was Sara and Jack's.

Inspired by the Lake District, beloved books and a subtle nod to Halloween, they transformed Botley Hill Barn into something that felt wonderfully cinematic. Mature trees and woodland planting softened the ceremony space, while favourite stories were woven into both the floral design and the styling.

Pumpkins bearing 'Mr & Mrs' became unexpected photographic moments, ghost-shaped favours brought humour to the tables, and subtle references to classic horror films and Stranger Things gave guests little details to discover throughout the day.

Sara embraced two completely different bridal looks, beginning the celebrations in a tailored suit jacket and signature glasses before changing into a dramatic off-the-shoulder gown with lace sleeves. Jack paired his tailoring with Converse, proving once again that personality always wins over convention.

Everything about the day felt fearless. It wasn't themed—it was deeply personal.

Frankie & Alex | Textural, Intimate, Rebellious

Frankie and Alex quietly challenged almost every wedding tradition.

Frankie wore a jumpsuit, walked herself down the aisle and carried no bouquet at all.

Instead of relying on flowers for colour, we created atmosphere through richly textured autumn foliage, layered greenery, candlelight and the warmth of the fire itself. The November light streaming through the ceremony barn created a beautiful contrast against the deep greens, making the entire fireplace feel almost painterly.

One of our favourite photographs captures exactly that moment—the doors open behind the ceremony, natural light flooding in while the fire glows beneath a sculptural foliage installation.

The celebration itself was equally personal. Rather than entering to applause alone, the couple invited every guest to sing together, creating an unforgettable moment that perfectly reflected the warmth and connection of the day.

Proof, if it were ever needed, that unforgettable weddings aren't built around tradition—they're built around people.

Where We'd Invest Your Flower Budget at Botley Hill Barn

One of the questions we're asked most often is, "Where should we spend our flower budget?"

Our answer is always the same: create fewer moments, but make them unforgettable.

If your floral budget is around £2,500–£3,500

For intimate weddings of around 60 guests or fewer, we'd focus on the places that shape the experience of the day.

Our first investment would always be the ceremony barn fireplace.

It's where you'll exchange your vows, where so many of your photographs will be taken, and where your guests' attention naturally falls throughout the ceremony. We approach every mantelpiece differently, with one goal in mind—to make it look like it's never looked before.

Next, we'd create an immersive aisle. Whether that's delicate floral meadows, sculptural groupings or seasonal arrangements, the aisle transforms the ceremony from the moment you walk through the doors.

For the reception, we'd shift our attention to atmosphere. Thoughtfully placed flowers paired with generous candlelight create a room that feels warm, inviting and beautifully layered. We'd often recommend investing in elevated linens, beautiful crockery or coloured glassware alongside your flowers, allowing every design element to work together rather than relying on flowers alone.

If your floral budget is around £8,000

With a larger budget, we begin to tell the story across the entire venue.

We'd frame the entrance to the ceremony barn with a pair of generous floral urns, creating a beautiful welcome before guests even step inside. Better still, those urns can often be repurposed later in the day, giving you two unforgettable moments from one investment.

The staircase where many couples make their entrance is another wonderful opportunity for floral styling, adding anticipation before the ceremony even begins.

We'd also start thinking about the spaces that are often overlooked.

In summer, guests naturally spend time outdoors, so extending your floral styling beyond the barns creates a sense of continuity throughout the day. Bar arrangements, relaxed floral moments in the outdoor entertaining spaces and carefully placed designs around the reception barn all help the celebration feel beautifully considered from beginning to end.

Finally, we'd look for opportunities to create moments of surprise. Escort tables, floral table plans, cake displays and dessert stations all become part of the experience, encouraging guests to pause, explore and interact with the details you've spent months planning.

The best weddings aren't filled with flowers everywhere.

They're filled with flowers in exactly the right places.

"The best compliment we can receive isn't that people recognised our work. It's that they couldn't imagine those flowers belonging to anyone else."
